Suspension Repairs in London

Knocking or clunking over bumps, a bouncy or wallowing ride, the car sitting unevenly, or tyres wearing on one edge — suspension faults affect comfort, but more importantly they affect grip, braking distance and control.

We repair and replace shock absorbers, springs, bushes and suspension components on all makes and models at our Leyton workshop — and East London's speed bumps and potholes keep us busy at it. As with all our work, we inspect and diagnose first, then quote clearly before starting.

Common Questions

What are the signs of worn shock absorbers?

A bouncy or floaty ride, nose-diving under braking, excessive body roll in corners, knocking noises and uneven or scalloped tyre wear are all common signs. Worn shocks also lengthen your stopping distance, so they're worth checking promptly.

Do shock absorbers have to be replaced in pairs?

We recommend it. Replacing only one side leaves the car with uneven damping, which affects handling and braking stability — replacing them in pairs across an axle keeps the car balanced.

What causes a knocking noise over bumps?

It could be several things: worn drop links, bushes, ball joints, a broken spring or a failing shock absorber top mount. We inspect the suspension properly to pinpoint the source before quoting, so you only replace the part that's actually worn.

Can a pothole damage my suspension?

Absolutely — hard pothole strikes commonly break springs, damage shocks and knock out alignment. If the car has felt or sounded different since hitting one, it's worth an inspection.
